Alongside Dr. King: A Journalist's Up-Close Perspective on the Civil Rights Movement, as Recounted by His Son

STRAUSS BLACK BOX THEATRE

Join us for a special Black History Month event presented by the Kirkwood Human Rights Commission, in partnership with the Kirkwood Public Library and Kirkwood Historical Society.

Experience a compelling presentation by Ben Clark, who will share his father's firsthand accounts as TIME magazine's primary correspondent for the 1963 "Man of the Year" article on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drawing from personal conversations and extensive written records, Clark offers a unique perspective on Dr. King's life, philosophy, and relationships with key historical figures such as President John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, the Reverend Billy Graham, and President Lyndon B. Johnson.

This insightful event will explore Dr. King's journey from his religious upbringing to becoming a pivotal civil rights leader, influenced by thinkers like John Locke and Mahatma Gandhi. Discover the man behind the movement and gain a deeper understanding of the struggles and triumphs that shaped the civil rights era.

We look forward to sharing this enriching experience with the Kirkwood community!
