A Juneteenth Night of Motown Magic: An All-Star Celebration of the Motown Band
STRAUSS BLACK BOX THEATRE
A Juneteenth Night of Motown Magic
Get ready for an unforgettable evening celebrating the timeless sound of Motown, brought to life by an all-star lineup of St. Louis’ finest musicians and vocalists. Held in recognition of Juneteenth, this high-energy concert honors the rich legacy of Black artistry and musical innovation through the iconic songs that defined a generation, from The Temptations and Stevie Wonder to Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, and more.
Leading the charge are some of the region’s most celebrated vocalists: Jesse Robinson, Joe Mancuso, Renee Smith, Robert Nelson, along with powerhouse vocalist Charles Glenn and the dynamic, genre-blending Nikki Glenn, whose unique combination of vocals and violin adds a fresh and exciting dimension to the show.
Backing this incredible lineup is a powerhouse band featuring Chuck Smotherson on drums, Leland Crenshaw on guitar, Vince Clark on bass, and Pete Ruthenburg on keys, delivering the groove, energy, and authenticity that made Motown a global phenomenon.
Together, this group of celebrated St. Louis musicians creates a dynamic, feel-good experience that will have you singing along, tapping your feet, and reliving the magic of one of music’s greatest eras.
Join us for a night of incredible talent, unforgettable songs, and pure Motown soul.

ROSS FAMILY THEATRE
A new co-production with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and Boston Lyric Opera.
In the sweltering summer heat of New Orleans, Blanche DuBois arrives seeking refuge — but what awaits is more volatile than she could have ever imagined. Forced to move in with her sister Stella and her domineering husband Stanley, Blanche clings to fading dreams of romance and southern gentility. Hope flickers briefly when Blanche sets her sights on Stanley’s friend Mitch. But when Stanley shatters that hope with brutal force, Blanche’s grip on reality begins to unravel and desire turns destructive. With a searing, emotionally charged score, this operatic adaptation of Tennessee Williams’ famed play will leave audiences stunned and shaken.
All performances are accompanied by members of the Grammy Award-winning St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.
